It might have been raining in Boston but it didn't damper 89 year old Johnny Pesky's day. Pesky who has been with the Red Sox for nearly 60 years had his number 6 retired by the Red Sox today before the Red Sox game at 1:35. Pesky has served has a player, manager, coach, broadcaster, special asst, and a ambassador for the Red Sox. Pesky recieved hugs from Red Sox legend Jim Rice and Red Sox owners Larry Lucchino, Tom Werner, and John Henry. Former Red Sox Carlton Fisk who was the last to have his number retired by the Red Sox lifted a blanket up from the Red Sox retired numbers and there was the brand new number 6 along with the other retired number 1,4,8,9,27. Pesky was shocked and tearful. He made a small speech thanking the fans. And the Red Sox game was under way.
