Boston College head coach saga

Boston College recently fired football head coach Jeff Jagodzinski after he interviewed to be the head coach of the Jets. Boston College Athletic Director Gene DeFilippo wanted to have a head coach that would stay with the football program for the time of his contract. It seems Jagodzinski didn't want that and after the AD threatned to fire him if he interviewed with the Jets, he decided to go on with the interview and was fired a few days later. The AD said that him and the head coach met before the firing and they both have different outlooks about the future of the program. He also said many good things about Jagodzinski and then went on to say "we agreed to disagree". DeFilippo is expected to name a new head coach as soon as Monday and one source has reportedly said that BC's defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani is the favorite to succeed Jagodzinski. Spaziani has been with the College for 10 years and served as acting head coach after Tom O'Brein left the Eagles. Spaziani has been with the Eagles for more then 10 years and many Eagles staff and players want him in as head coach and think that he would be commited to staying at the College.

Sign the Petition

89 year-old Johnny Pesky has worked in the Red Sox organization for more than 60 years. He was a player, coach, 2-time manager, and instructor for the Red Sox. He has done so much for the Red Sox that he was rewarded for his hard work by having his number 6 retired by the Red Sox last season. Pesky sat on the bench as a instructor until a couple of years ago when the MLB ruled that there could only be a special amount of coaches on the bench. Johnny still is around the Red Sox clubhouse every night watching the games on TV. I have personally started a petition to let the MLB let Johnny Pesky sit on the bench. This man has worked more than 60 years for the MLB and they will not let the 89 year-old sit on the bench? Our goal is 1,000 signatures, and then the petition will be distributed to the media. Please follow the link below and sign the petition!

http://www.sawxheads.com/petition/4

Schilling joins WEEI

Former Red Sox Curt Schilling has joined WEEI.com as a member of there team of baseball anaylsts. Schillling who did not play at all last season recently said that he is likely to retire. Although there have been rumors of Schilling returning to baseball for half of the season next year, he had this to say on his blog 38pitches.com.

To WEEI.com. I am going to begin working with Rob Bradford and the
folks over at WEEI to blog going forward. I have way too much going on
to keep up here without some sort of push, and help. I have immense
respect for Rob and am comfortable that he?s a fan first and a writer
second. He has yet to write anything that I didn?t know to be true,
which in and of itself sets him apart from many.
-Curt Schilling / 38pitches.com

Schilling,42 will be blogging on recent baseball news and etc about baseball and life.

He deserved this....

Dustin Pedroia was the "short man" who was told several times in his
life that he is to small to play in the major leagues. Last year in
April Dustin Pedroia almost believed that, as he struggled in his first
month in the big leagues. But Pedroia came back that year in 2007 and
won the Rookie Of the Year award along with helping the Red Sox win
their 2 World Series in 4 years. Pedroia started the 2008 year off
fantastic as he was awarded a spot on the 2008 All-star game for the
first time. Pedroia just kept on impressing at the plate and in the
field, with his flops off the border of the infield and outfield while
he caught the ball in his glove. Pedroia led the league in hits (213)
for the season and also was led in doubles (54) and was second in
multi-hit games(61) and runs with 118. Before he won the ultimate
prize he also won a gold glove for his outstanding defense and a silver
slugger for his great bat this off-season. 2- year Red Sox veteran
Dustin Pedroia is the MVP of the AL for the 2008 season and he deserves
it.

Red Sox/ Tigers deal in works

The Red Sox are reportedly talking to the Tigers to send SS Julio Lugo to Detroit for either pitchers Nate Robertson or Dontrelle Willis. Lugo who was out for nearly the final two months of the season was a big disapointment for the Red Sox during his first two years with the team. Lugo has 2 years left on his 4 year contract he signed before the 2007 season. If Lugo does not return in 2009 a highly likely candidate for the position is Red Sox rookie SS Jed Lowrie who was a part time SS until Lugo was injured and then moved into starting SS.
Return for Lowe?

Reports say that a return to the Red Sox for former pitcher Derek Lowe could be very possible. Lowe who pitched for the Red Sox for 7 years (1997-2004) said that Boston is his first choice for a team in 2009. There have also been reports that the Red Sox have inquired about Lowe. Lowe does want a lot of cash which the Red Sox might not be willing to pay. But I think if they picked up Lowe for his second stint for the team he would be the biggest pitching addition this off-season. Lowe could be serve in the Red Sox rotation as a 4th starter. I think the Red Sox should really make a deal with Lowe. Its a very sensible signing. Well see whats happens.
What's with Sam I am?

Well we got one confusing issue here, except to me it is. Celtics guard Sam Cassell has not played the the first 9 games of the Celtics season. He has not even been in uniform, but has sat on the bench in a suit next to the Celtics coaching staff. Cassell who is 38 said this is his last year and he plans to be a assistant coach for the Celtics next year. But thats supposed to be next year right? Maybe there just taking it slow. Its an interesting situation since Cassell has been like a coach anyways this year. Well well just need him when we need him thats why he plays.
